PRESERVING A HISTORIC LANDMARK

We have the extraordinary opportunity … an opportunity to protect and revitalize one of Carbon County’s most recognizable and distinguished buildings, the Labor Temple in Red Lodge, which houses the Carbon County Historical Society & Museum.

Funds are now being sought for the renovation and expansion of the Labor Temple, thus enabling the Carbon County Historical Society to fulfill its mission of cultural and educational enrichment through the acquisition, preservation, and display of material relating to the history of Carbon County. The following will help provide a future for our past:

  • Building Addition - The addition will be built on the South side of the existing building, consistent with the original structure’s design, it will house a elevator serving all four floors, a four-story stairway, public restrooms, and archival & exhibit storage.
  • Building Renovation - A spacious ballroom on the 3rd floor, restored in the elegant manner of the 1900’s. This will help serve the community with conferences, meetings, seminars, banquets and social gatherings. A catering kitchen will be built adjacent to the ballroom. The 2nd floor will be renovated to accommodate expanded exhibits and storage space, a boardroom, classrooms and offices for museum staff. 1st floor and basement will be reconfigured to accommodate regional and national traveling exhibits.
  • A Lasting Legacy - The renovation of the Labor Temple for the Carbon County Historical Society & Museum will unlock the institution’s potential for all the people of the region and those who visit. With this expansion and renovation, the many varied benefits the museum will be able to provide will be greatly broadened such as; educational programs, cultural opportunities, economic development, research and preservation.
